Magicbox selected one of 18 winners out of more than 2,300 applicants
LOS ANGELES – October 1, 2024 – Magicbox, a company delivering a revolutionary new mobile virtual production studio, was recently named to the Pepperdine Graziadio Business School’s winners list of the “2024 Most Fundable Companies.” Magicbox was selected for the list from more than 2,300 companies representing all 50 U.S. states.
Magicbox CEO and founder Brian Nowac was on-hand during a special awards ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 26 at Pepperdine University to accept the award. During the event, representatives from each company gave a five-minute pitch for potential investors who were present. Out of the 18 awarded companies, Magicbox was also placed third in audience fan favorite voting.

The seventh annual list included companies across industries such as FinTech, AgTech, Healthcare, Industrial Automation, Consumer Packaged Goods, and Advanced Materials. The Most Fundable Companies are evaluated using the same formulas venture capitalists rely on to score startups including: financial projections, market opportunity, intellectual property, competitive advantage in their market, and the strength of the management team expertise. Each of these variables is then used to generate objective and customized feedback and scoring to improve readiness for funding.
“Making Pepperdine’s list of ‘Most Fundable Companies’ is an honor,” said Nowac. “This recognition and opportunity to showcase our company’s investability will help drive our success as we finalize fundraising of our seed round this year and set our sights on Series A in 2025. Investment in Magicbox now will help us finalize our go-to-market plans, prepare for scale growth in the future, and bring us closer to our goal of democratizing virtual production technology by making it accessible to content creators anywhere.”

Magicbox’s flagship product is a semi trailer that transforms into an LED studio for virtual production. “This is the same type of technology made famous by the producers of Star Wars The Mandalorian,” says Nowac. “We’ve miniaturized the technology and mobilized it to make it more accessible and affordable.”. The Magicbox Superstudio is being used for everything from major network TV shows like High Potential on ABC, to interactive experiential marketing for Netflix, to college sports.
Magicbox currently offers two patented production models – the 600-square-foot Superstudio™ complete with a fully-functional LED volume inside for virtual production, and the Superstage™ featuring an LED wall and stage for presentations, panels, and performances. Both offerings can be delivered anywhere in the U.S. then be set up and ready for use in just minutes.
The LED walls and ceiling inside the Magicbox Superstudio can display images, animations, video, and interactive 3D worlds. When a production crew and actors step inside, it looks and feels as if they were shooting in that environment. With Magicbox, content producers have the technology to appear to be in any location without leaving the safety and convenience of their studio, parking lot, or even the street in front of their house. Key features of Magicbox include three 1.3 pixel pitch LED walls and adjustable LED ceiling, a motorized turntable floor, air conditioning, and built-in camera motion tracking.
